Still can’t get into a running groove after four days at home. However, I’ve managed to update the photo galleries from London and Helsinki, in the Scenic section. I also created galleries from the world championships men’s and women’s marathons, in the Running section. Please have a look…

World Championships

Monday, August 15th, 2005

Overall, the meet was quite successful for the United States team. I believe the team earned 25 medals overall, and several young performers emerged in their first world championship.

British marathoner Paula Radcliffe finally earned her first championship medal. I had good viewing areas for that race… My photo gallery from the women’s marathon is up for viewing in the Running Photos section.

Last Day in Helsinki

Monday, August 15th, 2005

After suffering through several days of rain, my last day in Helsinki is beautiful and sunny. It will be a good day to do some sightseeing before my flight.

Rain again today

Sunday, August 14th, 2005

It’s Sunday morning in Helsinki. Last day of competition, and, of course, it’s sprinkling. Weather may clear in time for the women’s marathon, which starts at 2:20 PM local time… Despite the rain, I’ve had an enjoyable time in Helsinki, so far…

Rain finally stopped

Tuesday, August 9th, 2005

Well, the rain finally stopped last night, in time for the evening competition. It was a great night for distance running, but probably a bit too cool for sprinting and jumping. Right before the women’s 100 final, the rain came back with a vengeance, but it didn’t seem to deter Lauryn Williams of the USA. She’s one gutsy sprinter.

Today is mild with high clouds, so far. The decathlon starts in about an hour. Signing off for now…

Where else can one go to the World Championships, then go home and watch the meet on TV? (on Eurosport) Gotta love it…

Rainy day in Helsinki

Monday, August 8th, 2005

It’s been raining off and on today since my morning run, at about 8:00 AM. Fortunately, we aren’t watching the meet right now. Today’s schedule only includes an evening session. The highlight finals should include the women’s steeplechase and men’s 10,000 meters….

I’m also looking forward to trying a Nepalese restaurant near our hotel. The food here is interesting. Seems to be an abundance of McDonalds and Subways, which I have avoided so far.

Didn’t have a chance to post updates from London, so I’ll let the pictures do the talking… Please take a look at the photo gallery for more.
